ROCK CRAWLING

Rock crawling is an extreme form of off road driving using vehicles anywhere from stock to highly modified to overcome obstacles. In rockcrawling, drivers pilot highly modified four-wheel-drive vehicles such as trucks, Jeeps, and "buggies" over very harsh terrain. Driving locations include boulders, mountain foothills, rock piles, mountain trails, etc.

Rockcrawling is about slow-speed, careful and precise driving. Rockcrawlers often drive up, down and across obstacles that would appear completely impassable to the average person.

Location

From Highway 64, on the west side of Rangely, turn south on River Road.

Proceed on River Road until it curves onto County Road 2 and proceed west 2.1 miles. As the Road curves uphill and to the south, turn onto the south side of the road and pull into the parking area with kiosk.

From this point follow the marked dirt track 3 tenths of a mile to the southeast where the entrance to the first track is marked.

Park boundaries are outlined in purple.

This area is designated for Rock Crawling and tracks are marked as they are developed.

Two types of Rock Crawling tracks exist within the park.

Warnings and Difficulty

Rock Crawling is permitted within the area outlined in purple.
Rock Crawling is a potentially dangerous sport and participants are solely responsible for the actions they take.
No liability is assumed by the Town of Rangely or Rangely Rock Crawling Club in providing information to interested parties.
This activity is allowed on public property and all rules and regulations as might apply are to be followed.

This public land open to multiple uses.
Please show respect for all users
Pack it in / Pack it out
Carry Oil absorbent kits/cleanup bags
No glass bottles
Stay on trails-within bounds
Red markers provide boundary limits and cautions

Difficulty Indicators

Green markings indicate easiest routes.
This level is rated as challenging for stock type jeeps and four wheel drives.
Red markers indicate cautions, shelves and park boundaries.

Blue markings are of moderate difficulty.
These routes present unique challenges and hazards.
Be prepared to be challenged.
The use of specially designed rock crawling vehicles should be considered

Black tracks are extreme.
In the field they are indicated by yellow markings with black labels.
Single black markers indicate extreme difficulty.
Double black are just that.
Black tracks involve hazards that can cause considerable harm to users and vehicles.
White markers indicate winch points
