Congratulations to the Winners for July 2010



 

 Mr. & Mrs. Robert Reynolds of 207 S. Stanolind are the winners for July. Mrs. Reynolds said she purchased the bicycle at a yard sale, you just never know when you add flowers to something what the results will be.



Mr. & Mrs. Gary Staley own Sweetbriar Gifts at 713 E. Main. They spent months remodeling their building and opened in April of 2009. The life size elk and the carved bear add to the finishing touches of a great store front.

Nomination Process
  • Rangely residents will nominate yards
  • The yard must be located within the Town of Rangely.
  • Yards which are not selected for the Yard of the Month maybe be re-nominated in successive months.

Prizes Will Be Awarded Monthly

  • Each month judges will select a Yard of the Month.

  • Each month judges will select a Business Yard of the Month Winners will be provided a YARD OF THE MONTH SIGN, which will be displayed in the winning yard for a month.

  • Recognition of the yard and owner in the local newspaper and on the town’s web site.

  • Framed Certificate of Appreciation presented by the Town of Rangely.

  • Free water for one month, up to $ 75.00.

Judging

The judging will be conducted by members of a Cultivating Committee, a citizen group formed to promote neighborhood beautification and enrich the quality of life in neighborhoods.

The committee will select winners based on the following criteria.

  • Yard is free of trash and clutter
  • Grass is green, mowed, generally free of bare spots and weeds, and properly edged.
  • Trees, shrubs, and plants are neatly pruned or trimmed and in good condition.
  • Decorative rocks and mulch are displayed in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Flowers and other vegetation are well landscaped and make good use of color.
  • Garden edging methods and other decorative materials such as logs, short fences, etc. is in good condition and neatly placed.
  • Walkways and steps are clean and free of mold, stains, or weeds as well as cracks or chips.
Overall appearance of the yard is well balanced and aesthetically .
