Frank Huitt, Mayor

Rangely is “A Great Place to Live”. It’s also a great place to visit, vacation and explore. The Town of Rangely hosts excellent overnight accommodations and restaurants.  We pride ourselves on making our visitors feel welcome and hope that your stay in our community is memorable.

Rangely’s vast energy industry provides a large number of excellent paying jobs.  The Rangely Weber Sand Unit operated by Chevron USA has been producing oil for more than 60 years.  It still produces more than 12000 BBL’s per day.  Vast amounts of natural gas are also produced in the nearby surrounding area.  Blue Mountain Energy – Desarado Mine also produces 2 million ton of coal annually.  These industries are also very important for our Nations energy needs.

Just 15 minutes from the Dinosaur National Park entrance, you can enjoy exploring some of the most beautiful scenery and recreational opportunities in Northwest Colorado.  The Taylor Draw Dam is 5 minutes out-of-town with skiing, fishing and boating activities, a restaurant on site and campground and picnic areas along the shoreline.

If you enjoy 4-wheeling, OHV or rock crawling you will be pleasantly surprised at the opportunities on all sides of Rangely.  Just west of Rangely on County Road 2 is the only well marked and maintained rock crawling park on BLM in the State of Colorado.  Rangely has hosted a number of rock crawling events with national appeal and participation.

Within town, residents and visitors can take advantage of a modern recreation center with pool, slide, hot tub, sauna, racquetball courts and fitness areas.  It’s clean, beautifully designed amenities will be a welcome retreat for you and your family.

Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) overlooks the town from a nearby mesa a few hundred feet above the town center.  This junior college provides an advanced dental hygiene program as well as an established and nationally recognized aviation program.  Many of our local college bound graduates complete their general education requirements during and after high school.  With modern dormitories and state-of-the-art classroom accommodations the campus is a beautiful setting for faculty and students alike.  Many CNCC students are nationally recognized for their achievements in the health sciences and aviation competitions.

You need to check out Rangely and the surrounding area.  We’re sure you’ll love it.

See ya soon!!
