Rangely Animal Shelter Spay and Neuter Program

The shelter is proud to have received a 5,000.00 grant from the Animal Assistance Foundation in Denver to help spay and neuter all shelter animals. We have also been involved in a program funded by the Friends of the Aspen Animal Shelter in Aspen. This program provides coupons to participating veterinarians for the residents of Rangely, and Dinosaur to pay for the costs to spay and neuter dogs and cats. By State law all animals that come into the shelter have to be spayed and neutered and have their rabies shots to be adopted. The grants and coupons have really helped us in our endeavor to stop overpopulation in pets. We have also received a 300.00 grant from Petfinders for vaccines for our cats.

The Rangely Animal Shelter is located in the Northwestern corner of Colorado. We are funded through the local government, including revenue from licensing fees and fines, as well as, donations from the public. The Rangely Animal Shelter is one of two animal shelters that services 3,221 sq. miles in Rio Blanco County and parts of Moffat County. We are dedicated to finding responsible, loving homes for abandoned animals that are scheduled to be euthanized.

To visit the animal shelter, contact the Rangely Police Department for an appointment. The adoption fee for a dog is $20.00 and $10.00 for a cat. All animals adopted from Rangely Animal Shelter will come with a spay/neuter discount certificate from a participating vet clinic and a town license for Rangely residents. Educational material will also be provided to adopting families.
