In March 2010 households across the country will receive the 10-question census form by U.S. mail or hand delivery. Responding immediately to the 2010 Census form is the most efficient way to complete the census. By law, the Census Bureau cannot share respondents' answers with anyone, including other Federal agencies and law enforcement entities.
The 2010 Census data affects how Federal funding is distributed to state, local and tribal governments, guides local planning decisions, including where to provide additional services (i.e. social services, child care, senior centers and build new roads, hospitals, schools, job training and community centers. The census population also determines which states gain or lose representation in Congress and local re-districting. The facts gathered in the census also helps shape decisions for the rest of the decade about public health, neighborhood improvements, transportation, education, senior services and much more.
